Description
This image portrays an earlier Union triumph in the capture of a prize, the Arthur Middleton, which lies centered between the USS Vandalia and the USS Roanoke, still flying a Confederate flag. After the war, an article in the London Times claimed that "the number of blocade runners engaged...between British and Confederate ports between the years 1861 and 1865...were no less than 250 vessels.
Three sailing ships: "Vandalia", the prize "Arthur Middleton", and "Roanoke".
